Born in Lincoln, Nebraska. BA in Sociology from Knox College, Masters in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. Thirty-six years with the State of California in a variety of social service programs. Last assignment was with the Department of Aging providing home and community-based services to frail elderly on MediCal. Oversaw local programs that kept frail seniors out of nursing homes by arranging and overseeing necessary services like home-delivered meals, respite, transportation, and in-home aides. Did evaluations of local programs, analyzed policy and related legislation. Active on URC Health Services Committee and its Quality of Care in Skilled Nursing project; chaired annual Bazaar in 2007 and 2008; currently on the Resident Council and Vice President of local CALCRA chapter. Born in Marshalltown, Iowa. Graduated from US Naval Academy; Doctorate in Education from USC. Thirty year career in education culminating as Superintendent of the Western Sonoma County High School District.
Subsequently an account executive for Teacher's Management and Investment Company; worked in the travel industry. Fellow for the National Academy of School Executives. Written four books and numerous articles for education magazines, vice chairman of the resident council, chairman of the Information and Education Committee, member of the Finance Committee, president of the AFVW Foundation, one of four editors of the monthly newsletter, "The Villager."

Association and a delegate to the California Legislature. Devoted time to both local and national Zionist institutions serving as an active member and president of several of them. Helped found Stephen S. Wise Temple, now the largest Jewish Congregation in the US. Served on the Resident Council, president for three years.
Representative to the board of directors of Hyatt for two years.

Mary
Beth Tompane lived in the Phoenix, Arizona area for 60
years, but spent most summers in the San Diego area.
Attended Arizona universities and has an MBA from U of
California, Riverside and is a graduate of the Business
College at Stanford University. Her husband was Eugene
Tompane, a Chartered Financial Analyst. Mary Beth
worked with her husband in addition to raising 4 sons.
She also served on numerous Boards of Directors of
local, national and international organizations. When
her sons were in college, she was recruited to help
start a new hospital in Sun City, Arizona. After it was
opened and operating smoothly, she started her
Management Consulting firm. She also served as interim
executive director of troubled non-profit organizations
in 15 different cities in the USA. Mary Beth is a CVA
(Certified Volunteer Administrator), and CMC (Certified
Management Consultant). She has served as a member of
the California DSS Continuing Care Branch Advisory
Committee from 2005-2011, and was the organizing
Resident Council President for LaJolla Village Towers
and President of the Resident Association, Resident
Council for Carlsbad By the Sea for 4 years. Member of
the CALCRA Board since 2011.
